This article outlines the changes made to Maritime Health in release 3.0.0, which is available to be scheduled for deployment on 22 June 2026.
Please contact your Ideagen Maritime Health representative for deployment assistance and configuration requirements.
1. (SC-15765) SSO enhancements
Several improvements to SSO authentication have been made. See also the Configuration section below for new configuration options affecting SSO.
SSO user profile restrictions
When a user logs in using SSO, the system now blocks access to Change Password, Change Security Questions, and Unlink SSO from the user's own profile. This is independent of the Hide Local Login setting. Non-SSO users continue to access all standard profile features normally.
Manual SSO linking via admin interface
A new optional SSO ID field has been added to the User Information tab in the User Wizard, allowing administrators to link users to their Identity Provider directly, without requiring a support request. Once saved, the password, password confirmation, and security question fields are automatically disabled, and an SSO-enabled indicator is displayed on the user profile. Administrators can unlink SSO from the User List, which clears the SSO ID and re-enables all previously disabled fields. The SSO ID column is also included in the Download Users Report export.
Bulk SSO user provisioning via import
The user import template now includes an SSO ID column, enabling administrators to onboard multiple SSO users at once. For new users, providing an SSO ID during import creates the user with SSO linkage already established and the appropriate fields disabled. For existing users, the import can add or update SSO IDs. The import process validates SSO ID format and reports errors for invalid entries and handles duplicate SSO IDs appropriately.
2. (SC-15841) Patient check in/out and workflow enhancements
Maritime Health Onboard extends its patient workflow to include check in/check out capabilities, giving clinic staff greater ability to track patient presence in the clinic from arrival through billing using new workflow statuses across the Manifest tab, Workflow tab, Patient Chart, and Scheduler. All check in and check out actions are fully logged in the Audit Trail for compliance and accountability. Several individual enhancements to the patient workflow are also included.
Patient check in
To check a patient in from three locations within Maritime Health Onboard:
- Dashboard Module > Manifest Tab - A new Check In action appears in the patient search results for patients who are not currently checked in
- Patient Chart Quick Actions - A Check In button is available in the Quick Actions menu for patients who are not currently checked in
- Scheduler - A Check In button appears to the right of the Start Encounter button within the appointment event dialogue
In all cases, selecting Check In and confirming sets the patient's workflow status to Checked In / Awaiting Encounter Start, adds the patient to the Clinic Module > Workflow tab, and logs the timestamp and performing user in the Audit Trail.
If an encounter is started for a patient who has not been checked in, the system silently auto-checks in the patient in the background and sets the status directly to Awaiting Triage, skipping the manual check-in step.
Patient check out
To check a patient out from two locations within Maritime Health Onboard:
- Clinic Module > Workflow Tab - A Check Out action appears in the ellipsis menu for patients who are currently checked in
- Patient Chart Quick Actions - A Check Out button is available in the Quick Actions menu for patients who are currently checked in
Confirming a check-out sets the patient's status to Checked Out / Unposted MSB, keeps the patient visible in the Workflow tab, and logs the timestamp and performing user in the Audit Trail. Patients may be checked out regardless of whether they have an open encounter or a posted Master Service Bill. When the Master Service Bill is eventually posted for the patient, they will now be removed from the Workflow tab.
The system also tracks and displays Time in Status for patients in Checked In / Awaiting Encounter Start and Checked Out / Unposted MSB statuses.
Workflow tab - column and UI enhancements
The Workflow tab (Onboard > Clinic module > Workflow tab) has been updated with the following changes:
- Column order is changed to (from left-to-right): Patient, Triage, Physician, Department/Position, Next Review, Time In Clinic, Status
- Patient column displays the patient's avatar now
- Status column displays the current workflow status as an info-coloured label on the first row, and Time in Status on the second row
- Triage column displays the triage priority label on the first row and Chief Complaints on the second row. Clicking on Chief Complaints opens a More pop-up modal with the full list
- Time In Clinic column displays Total Time In Clinic only and no longer displays the enrolment type (inpatient/outpatient/wellness programme)
- Inpatient and Outpatient patients are both included
- All tabs in the Clinic Module now scroll in place - only the table scrolls; the rest of the application remains fixed
Patient chart enhancements
The Patient Chart now displays the patient's current clinic Workflow Status prominently in the demographics section, below the Signed On Date field.
Additionally, inpatient patients can now have their workflow status set via the Patient Shortcut avatar at the top of the screen, consistent with the existing experience for outpatient patients.
The Encounter Summary now displays the date and time the patient was Checked In and Checked Out. This is displayed only after an encounter is open.
Report builder enhancements
The Report Builder (Reports Module > Build Custom Report) has been updated with the following additions:
- Under the Encounter subsection of Encounters reporting area, the Encounter Id, Checked In and Checked Out fields are now available as reportable fields
- Under the Time In Clinic subsection of Encounters reporting area, the Checked In / Awaiting Encounter Start Time Hour(s) and Checked Out / Unposted MSB Time Hour(s) workflow statuses are now available as reportable fields
Audit trail - check in/out logging
The Audit Trail now logs all check-in and check-out events, capturing:
- The timestamp of the action
- The user who performed the action
Terminology update
The previously existing Check In action has been renamed to Add to Health Information Exchange to avoid confusion. This action makes a patient visible in the Health Information Exchange module, and is available in two locations:
- Dashboard Module > Manifest tab > Ellipsis menu next to patient entry
- Global Search for patient > Search results > Ellipsis menu next to patient entry
3. (SC-15784) Improved discharge summary and additional discharge documents
Maritime Health now provides streamlined access to discharge documents through a new Quick Action available throughout the patient chart encounter, eliminating the need to navigate through the Disposition Wizard. This release improves upon the standardized Discharge Summary document that auto-populates with encounter-specific clinical data, and introduces new documents related to discharge (Prescriptions, Instructions, Clinic Notes). Access is governed existing Disposition permissions.
Quick action for discharge documents
A new Quick Action button (Download/Print Discharge Documents) is now available at the bottom right of the patient chart when inside an active encounter. Clicking it opens a modal where clinicians can select one or more discharge documents (Discharge Summary, Encounter Summary, Discharge Instructions, or Prescriptions) and choose to Print or Download them as PDFs. The Quick Action is only visible during active encounters and is hidden when the encounter is closed, voided, or deleted.
New discharge summary document
The new Discharge Summary document automatically populates with encounter-specific data including patient demographics, management details (physician and nurse), encounter summary with chief complaints from HPI, and clinical sections such as diagnosis, allergies, vitals, medications, orders, and disposition details. Clinical sections only appear if data was documented in the encounter, keeping the document clean and relevant. The document includes a professional header with vessel logo and clinic name, and a footer with patient identifiers and page numbering on every page.
New discharge documents
Encounter Summary (previously called Clinical Notes), Discharge Instructions, and Prescriptions documents can now be downloaded along with the Discharge Summary.
Vessel logo configuration
The SeaConsult Vessel Logo field in Onboard > Admin > Vessel Admin > Vessel tab, has been renamed to Vessel Logo. When a logo is uploaded, it now displays on all four discharge document types.
Permission management
(updated Aug 26, 2026)
Only users with either Disposition > Create or Disposition > Update permission can see and use the Download/Print Discharge Documents Quick Action.
Legacy discharge printing removed
The previous discharge document printing functionality within the Disposition Wizard has been removed. All discharge document access is now consolidated through the new Quick Action.
4. (SC-15945) Product edit and import enhancements
This release introduces validation and data-integrity improvements to the product editing and product import workflows. Users will now receive a clear warning when editing a product that impacts historical records such as Medical Supply Bills, the import process will correctly ignore column data that doesn't apply to a product's category, and duplicate SKU numbers within an import file will be detected and rejected before any records are processed.
Product edit warning for historical record impact
To modify an existing product:
- Go to Operations > Admin > Products / Orders > Products.
- Select the product.
- Make your changes and save.
The system now displays a warning explaining that the changes will be applied retroactively to all associated historical records, including past Medical Supply Bills. The warning recommends creating a new product instead if the change is significant. You can choose Proceed to commit the changes or Cancel to return to the edit screen with unsaved changes intact.
Category-based column validation on import
To import products:
- Go to Operations > Admin > Import.
- Select the ellipsis menu.
- Select Import > Product List.
The system now reads the product category from each row and automatically ignores values provided in columns that do not apply to that category. This prevents irrelevant field data (such as a Sales Quantity Unit value on a Service category product) from being incorrectly written to product records. No changes have been made to the import file template or format.
Duplicate SKU detection within import file
During product import (Operations > Admin > Import > Ellipsis menu > Import > Product List) the system now scans all rows for duplicate SKU numbers. If duplicates are found, the entire import is rejected and logged as a failure. You can download the error file, which generates the imported product list spreadsheet with each affected row containing the message Validation error: duplicate SKU number XXX. If no duplicates are found, the import proceeds normally.
5. (SC-15040) Enhancements to self-booking appointments in Crew Health
This enhancement establishes complete feature parity between self-booking appointments (created through the Crew Health app, now called Maritime Health Crew) and regular appointments (created in the Maritime Health Onboard Scheduler) when viewing appointments in the scheduler (Onboard > Scheduler module > Scheduler tab). Previously, self-booking appointments lacked critical management capabilities - users could not mark them as missed, edit details, delete them, or start encounters. This release resolves those gaps and also introduces clickable patient name links on all appointments for one-click navigation to the patient's medical chart.
Self-booking appointment management
Self-booking appointments now display the same action icons and workflows as regular appointments:
- Mark as Missed / No-Show - opens the standard confirmation dialogue. After confirmation, the appointment displays with the Missed visual indicator, and the status is recorded in the audit trail
- Edit Appointment - opens the full Edit Event modal with all standard fields (Patient, Resource, Appointment Type, Start/End times, Notes, Calendar Colour, etc.). The Start Encounter button is available for patient appointments, and Start SeaConsult for telemedicine appointments. Recurring appointment fields are disabled because self-booking appointments from Crew Health cannot be recurring
- Delete Appointment - opens the standard confirmation dialogue with a reason prompt. After confirmation, the appointment is removed from the scheduler view. A soft-delete is performed, preserving the record and audit trail
Audit Trail - all actions (mark as missed, edit, delete) generate audit trail entries in the Appointment Log (Maritime Health Onboard > Admin > Admin Log > Appointment Log) capturing user ID, timestamp, action type, and before/after values.
Permissions - Existing role-based permissions (UPDATE_APPOINTMENTS_SCHEDULER, REMOVE_APPOINTMENTS_SCHEDULER) are enforced consistently for both self-booking and regular appointments. No new permissions are required.
Patient chart navigation from appointments
Crew and guest names displayed on appointment events in the scheduler are now rendered as clickable hyperlinks:
- One-Click Navigation - Clicking the patient name navigates directly to the patient's medical chart. This works identically for self-booking and regular appointments, in both week and month calendar views
- Non-Patient Appointments - Appointments without an associated patient (resource-only) display the name as plain text with no link
- Browser Back Support - After navigating to a patient chart, you can use the browser back button to return to the scheduler at the same date and view
6. (SC-14981) Enhancements to vessel monitoring in the Integration Dashboard
This release enhances the Maritime Health Integration Dashboard (Onboard > Admin > Integration > Integration Dashboard) with comprehensive vessel infrastructure monitoring and proactive alerting. Real-time disk space utilisation metrics with category breakdowns and enhanced replication status monitoring with lag-time visibility and colour-coded health indicators are now available in both the Onboard and Operations modules. An automated email notification system alerts subscribed users when storage reaches critical thresholds or replication synchronisation degrades.
Disk space utilisation dashboard
A new Disk Space Utilisation section is displayed on the Integration Dashboard. It shows storage consumption broken down by Data (DB), Documents, and System Files, along with a Total (used/capacity) and a colour-coded percentage indicator - green (<80%), orange (80-89%), red (≥90%). Metrics refresh on page load and via the existing dashboard refresh button.
Enhanced replication status - onboard module
A new Replication Status section is displayed on the Integration Dashboard. It now shows detailed lag-time information for both Ship-to-Shore and Shore-to-Ship synchronisation streams. Each stream displays a health status - green (Up to date, 0-1h), yellow (Minor lag, 1-6h), or red (Critical lag, >6h) - with lag time expressed in hours or days and hours. Directional icons distinguish each stream at a glance.
Enhanced replication status - operations module
The same replication lag and health indicator enhancements are deployed to the Shoreside Operations Vessel section (Operations > Admin > Vessels), giving shore-based teams consistent visibility into vessel synchronisation status. Vessels with no replication data display N/A in grey.
Disk space utilisation email alerts
Automated email notifications are sent when total vessel storage reaches 80% (Warning), 90% (Urgent), 95% (Critical), or 100% (Storage Full). Alerts are sent only to users subscribed to Disk Space Utilisation Alerts for the specific vessel, with escalating severity and actionable recommended steps. A single email is sent per threshold crossing, and alerts reset when utilisation drops back below a threshold. Subscriptions are managed via Admin > Notifications in both Onboard and Operations modules.
Replication status email alerts
Automated email notifications are sent when Ship-to-Shore or Shore-to-Ship replication enters a degraded state (Minor or Critical lag). A recovery confirmation email is sent once synchronisation returns to normal. The system prevents alert fatigue by not sending duplicate alerts during continued degradation or continuous up to date notifications while healthy. Subscriptions are managed via the Replication Status Alerts notification in Admin > Notifications in both Onboard and Operations modules.
7. (SC-13763) Communicable disease testing terminology update
All references to Communicable Disease Testing throughout Maritime Health have been renamed to Clinical Testing (or Clinical Test in singular form) to adopt more inclusive terminology that accurately encompasses all types of testing, including drug testing.
The following areas are affected:
- Patient Chart Menu (Onboard > Patient Chart > Plus (+) button in lower-right corner) - The Plus (+) button menu option now reflects Record Clinical Test and the modal dialogue it opens is titled Clinical Testing
- Quick Entry menu (Onboard > Patient Chart > Plus (+) button in upper-right corner) - The Quick Entry menu now reflects Clinical Tests and the quick entry page reflects Clinical Testing Quick Entry
- Public Health Module / Encounter (Onboard > Patient Chart > Public Health) - The testing section modal within the Public Health module now reflects the Clinical Testing label
- Orders Section (Onboard > Patient Chart > Order) - All labels and references within the Orders section have been updated to Clinical Testing / Clinical Test
- Report Builder (Operations > Reports > Build Custom Report) and Standard Reports - The section name under the Other category in Report Builder and the corresponding Standard Reports report name now read Clinical Testing. Report descriptions have also been updated
- Users/Group Permissions (Operations > Admin > User or Groups > Edit User or Group > Permissions) - The permission set previously named Communicable Disease Testing has been renamed to Clinical Testing
- Import (Operations > Admin > Import > Ellipsis menu > Import) - The import type name has been updated from Communicable Disease Testing to Clinical Testing, including the downloadable template document name
8. (SC-14699) Privacy enhancement for HIE document rejections in Crew Health
In Maritime Crew Health, the Documented by field shown in rejected documents details has been updated to display only the reviewer's first name, replacing the previously shown full name. This change addresses a privacy concern where Crew Members could see the full name of the person rejecting their medical documents and adding comments.
9. Configuring SSO
Comprehensive SSO configuration capabilities have been added for Maritime Health Operations and Onboard. Administrators can now request to configure SSO-only login screens (hiding the option to login using username/password).
SSO settings are independently configurable at the application and individual vessel level, enabling different vessels and Operations to use different Identity Providers and authentication types.
SSO-only login mode
A new Hide Local Login backend configuration allows removal of username/password and related fields from the login screen, displaying only the configured SSO login option(s). When enabled, direct URL access to forgot-password and forgot-username pages redirects users to the login screen. The configuration is independent of SSO activation - clients can have SSO enabled while still showing traditional login fields if desired. This setting can be configured independently for Maritime Health Operations and for each individual vessel in Maritime Health Onboard. This allows mixed authentication experiences within the same client.
Vessel-level SSO and identity provider configuration
Each vessel in Maritime Health Onboard can now be configured with its own SSO settings and Identity Provider independently. Vessel SSO configuration is fully independent from the Operations SSO configuration and from other vessels. The system routes authentication to the correct IdP based on vessel context and prevents cross-contamination of SSO credentials between vessels.
10. Fixes
| Reference | Description |
| 1438208 | Fixed an issue where the Par Levels tab (Operations > Admin > Products / Orders > Products tab > (edit Product) > Par Levels tab) failed to render when a product was associated with multiple vessels and at least one vessel did not have a product price list assigned. The tab is now rendered correctly, with a warning banner that lists any vessels that do not have a price list. It reads Warning: The following vessel(s) have no Product Price List and will be skipped for pricing: <vessel name(s)> |
| 1447995 | Fixed an issue where the billing audit trail did not track lot numbers when medication was dispensed/administered in a patient encounter or directly in the Medical Service Bill (MSB). Lot numbers were only recorded in the billing audit trail when medication was adjusted via the onboard inventory. Lot numbers are now correctly tracked regardless of how they are entered. The billing audit trail is accessed at Onboard > Patient Chart > Audit Trail > Billing Audit tab. Medication is dispensed/administered in a patient encounter at Onboard > Patient Encounter > Medications > (menu next to medication) > Administer or Dispense. Medication is dispensed/administered directly in the MSB at Onboard > Patient Chart > Admin > Master Service Bill tab > Medications > (add medication). Medication is adjusted via the onboard inventory at Onboard > Inventory > (select existing product) > (set NEW QTY). |
| 1450396 | Fixed an issue with the crew member import process (Operations > Admin > Import > Ellipsis menu > Import > Crew Members) where downloading a template with the Populate the template with existing crew members option enabled generated an Excel file without any existing crew member data. The exported spreadsheet now correctly includes current crew member records as expected. |
| N/A | Resolve incompatibility with third-party CARS interface When generating a data export from Maritime Health to be used by CARS, the Treatment Beyond First Aid Date field now includes a full timestamp in the required format ( |
