Ideagen Maritime Technical Service Bulletin
Purpose
This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) informs clients that the minimum Android operating system requirement for Maritime Health (formerly Ideagen Maritime Health) Commercial mobile apps has changed from a recommendation to a mandatory requirement. Effective with version 1.19.0 and all subsequent releases, users must have Android 12 or higher installed on their mobile devices. This change is based on comprehensive security assessments necessary to protect user data and maintain compliance with current security standards.
Description of Issue
Previously, we recommended that users have Android 12 or higher installed on their devices for optimal performance and security. Following recent security assessments, we have determined that older Android versions no longer meet the security standards required to protect sensitive maritime health data. Beginning with version 1.19.0, Android 12 is now mandatory. The Google Play Store will automatically enforce this requirement and prevent users with Android 11 or earlier from downloading or updating the Maritime Health (formerly Ideagen Maritime Health) Commercial apps.
What Is Changing?
- Android 12 minimum requirement changes from “recommended” to “mandatory” for version 1.19.0 and higher
- Google Play Store will block installation on devices running Android 11 or earlier
- Change driven by security vulnerabilities identified in older Android versions
Action Required By You
- Communicate to Users: Inform maritime personnel using the mobile apps that they must verify their device meets the Android 12 requirement before updating to version 1.19.0.
- Device Compatibility Check: Users can verify their Android version at: Settings > About Phone > Android Version If running Android 11 or earlier, users must either update their device OS (if supported) or use a different device.
- Assess Device Inventory: Identify devices in your fleet that do not meet the Android 12 requirement and plan for upgrades or replacements as necessary.
Next Steps
Please communicate this requirement to your teams before deploying version 1.19.0. If you have questions about device compatibility or need assistance, contact our support team at support.tritan@ideagen.com.
